There are three main methods or approaches to Christian meditation -surrender, concentration and awareness.

John Main Seminar

The New Zealand Community for Christian Meditation is hosting the 2015 John Main Seminar. The event will start with a three-day silent retreat led by Fr. Laurence Freeman OSB 12 to 15 January and the seminar will follow on 15 to 18 January, 2015. The seminar presenter is David Tacey who is the author of numerous books on religion, spirituality and society.

The Contemplative Network was formed following a visit to New Zealand by Cynthia Bourgeault - Episcopalian priest, hermit, author and retreat leader - to give a series of talks and run retreats having at their core the practice of Centering Prayer.  Following Cynthia's initial visit in March 2009 she returned to New Zealand in October to provide training for those interested in developing their practice of Centering Prayer and providing training for those interested in teaching others the method.
