Practice Circle: The Poetry of Presence

In a Practice Circle we engage in contemplative practice together, cultivating harmony of being by attuning to and aligning with the Presence of Spirit and “the sound of the genuine” within us and between us. A Circle meets via Zoom once a week for eight consecutive weeks. Each weekly meeting is facilitated and runs for 90 minutes.

Rumi scholar Fatemah Keshavarz has described Rumi’s poetry as an encounter, as a coming face-to-face with the sacred in such a way that it’s impossible to stay on the margins – you have to join in. In this practice circle, we’ll be allowing ourselves to be drawn into such encounters with the Living Presence of the sacred through the poetry of various accomplished poets, such as Rumi, Hafiz, Mary Oliver, Wendell Berry, David Whyte, and Jane Hirshfield. We’ll be “joining in,” participating in the wisdom of their words and the Silence from which they have come through our shared contemplation.
